The International Academy of Science and Arts in Bosnia and Herzegovina deeply mourns the tragic passing of Professor Nilda Turgut, an accomplished neurologist, scholar, and humanitarian. She served as head of the Department of Neurology at Tekirdag Namik Kemal University (Tekirdag, Türkiye) and was a founder of the International Balkan Congresses on Neurology and Neurosciences (IBCNN).
Professor Turgut played a significant role in advancing neurological sciences across the Balkans, and she was a candidate for membership in our Academy, and an invited speaker at the 2nd Academic Bosnia and Herzegovina Neurology Forum in Sarajevo on September 13-14, 2024. Her untimely departure on October 11, 2024, after tragic car accident during second day of the 4th IBCNN in Tekirdag, is a profound loss to the global neurology community. Her legacy of academic excellence, leadership, and compassion will continue to inspire.
